Jackson’s Stunning Blue Matka Tallit

Jackson, a university student and future leader of the free world, was about to embark on a Birthright trip to Israel.

He designed a gorgeous tallit, using a deep blue silk matka for the body, with metallic gold thread used to embroider a vine on light blue silk, bordered with a deep gold silk, and surrounded by white silk stripes. He had triple corners – white on blue on gold, with lions of Judah embroidered on 2 corners and Solomon’s temple embroidered on 2. 

For his atarah, we translated to Hebrew something that his mother used to say. “Hope is not naive. It is strength and courage in a world that gives us no assurances.”
