Sarah’s Irish Tallit

Sarah’s words: I knew the moment I converted to Judaism 9 years ago, I wanted to commission a tallit to be made that represented my family’s heritage. The tallit is made with my grandmother’s O’Bryan tartan. Two of the corners are adorned with the Star of David and the Hebrew Chai. The other two corners are adorned with a Tudor rose flower to represent England-the country my grandmother is from. Those two corners have the Hebrew word hineni. The atarah contains the verse from etz chaim reform siddurium. The verse is in Hebrew and it means “turn us back to You, and we will return. Renew our days as of old” with two trees of life on the atarah corners. This is my favorite part of Shabbat liturgy. It also represents my life with my husband, as our wedding theme was “a tree of life.” I absolutely love it! It was an absolute pleasure to work with Sharon, it was everything I dreamed of.
