Maisie’s Tallit

Maisie and her mom came with tallits from her grandfather and great-grandfather, and wanted to incorporate them into something new and feminine for Maisie’s new tallit. She had so many ideas about what to put on her corners, plus having the corners and tzitzit from her grandfather and great-grandfather on there, that we made it reversible and with 8 corners. She also had 2 atarahs, so that one side had the one from her grandfather’s tallit, and the other side had one created for her.

For the body of the tallit, Maisie chose a pale pink dupioni silk for one side, and a sheer white organza for the other, which created a very pale pink and white lacy tallit. Her corners were whimsical, symbolic and meaningful to her.

Her atrah had the L’Dor va dor prayer on it.
