Max’s Tahoe and Cherry Tree tallit

Max’s amazing tallit was a gift from his grandmother, and she played a large role, with Max’s mom, in its design, though it was Max who had his vision of what he wanted.

Max loves Lake Tahoe, especially in winter, and wanted the front scene to capture the snow-capped mountains and beautiful royal blue water of the lake. A cherry tree that grows in the yard of his grandmother was the inspiration for the embroidery on the back.

The atarah and corners are of a beautiful royal blue silk that matches the lake, with embroideries done in metallic gold thread. It’s all very striking on a white dupioni silk body. The corners are his Hebrew name, L’dor va dor (from generation to generation), the date of his Bar Mitzvah, and a message from his grandmother.
