Rebecca’s Tallit
Rebecca’s grandmother called me because she had cancer and knew that she wouldn’t be around for her granddaughters’ Bat Mitzvot, and though it was early she wanted to get started. She had been a quilter, but didn’t have the energy any longer to sew. When Rebecca came to visit her grandmother, she came here with her parents, sister (Samantha) and grandmother, to choose fabrics. She had seen photos of Talya’s tallit with 1 broad stripe of different fabrics sewn together, and wanted a similar design, but with softer colors. The background is a beautiful purple that fringed black, but with a sheer pink organza, bordered by an off white and deeper rose pink dupioni. The periwinkle corners are embroidered with her name, her parents’ names, and both sets of grandparents’ names.
