Houston’s very unusual tree tallit
Several years ago, Houston’s great uncle drew a scene with a tree, moon, and 2 stylized children standing below it. Houston wanted that exact scene on the back of his tallit, with a 3rd child (him) added. He chose a royal blue dupioni silk for the body, with white corners and atarah. The tree is partially appliqued and partially embroidered, the silhouettes of the children are embroidered, as is the red bird. On the front, is a large but simple silver star of David. For the atarah, he chose to have L’dor va dor embroidered in metallic silver thread.
Because Houston loves sports, he has a basketball, baseball and football on 3 of his corners, but on the inside of the tallit.
