Mike’s Tree of Life tallit

Mike wanted a tree of life on his tallit with the trunk meeting in the front, and the branches reaching out over his shoulders to the back.He chose a gorgeous tri-colored green dupioni silk for the body. The tree trunk was appliqued from 3 different brown dupioni silks, and the leaves were appliqued from dupioni silks and batiks, then embroidered to show the outlines and veins of the leaves. It was lined in a gold dupioni that matched the corners and outline of the atarah. The brown dupioni for the atarah matched one of the tree trunk fabrics. I’m sorry we didn’t get final photos – the ones you see are the tallit in progress, but it needed to be sent off immediately before I could take final photos. Luckily, Mike and Andrea (the cherry blossom tallit) sent the ones of Mike modelling it!
