Ruby’s lined unique tallit
Ruby wanted a traditional looking tallit, but also had some very bright, unique fabric to incorporate, and visualized using it as the lining. This fabric was meaningingful to Ruby, as it had belonged to a very special woman in our community who had recently passed away.
For the outside, Ruby chose to use a white dupioni silk for the body, which let the colors of the print show through very subtly. For stripes, she chose 2 silk matkas, a beige and a white, plus a dark green silk dupioni that matched the green in the lining.
She chose to use an antique gold embroidery thread on the beige matka, which was then layered onto the green dupioni, for the corners and atarah.
